![]() ![]() I have barrels out in the wild, and while they don’t have the reliability pedigree of say Old Cisco switches, I’m not changing hardware often at all. I think others will second this notion too. I had stability issues and it’s really cripples the functionality of what a mikrotik can do. I would strongly recommend you don’t even consider SwOS. They really do have a product for each market segment at unbeatable prices. Hello! Personally, I use mikrotik devices everywhere. Will I have a GUI or will I need SSH configuration or console?.Are these devices good? Or too cheap? Reliable?.Sounds to me it would be easier/cleaner for what I need. Can I run SwOS (Should I?) on all 3 devices.I'll want all the 3 devices to use a management vlan for their own IP. I'll use trunk/vlans and I am planning on leveraging the SPF port (trunk) on one of them for a fiber run to another Mikrotik device (probably a CRS112-8P-4S-IN) situated at a major junction for the house where I want to have flexibility in whatever I'll want to do (PoE, Fiber, CAT). Imagine: one will be house stuff, one will be dmz stuff totally separated. I am intrigued by the RB260GS and planning on using a couple of them connected to a 3 port firewall (two instead of a big one so that I have more peace of mind that the networks are separated even in the event of some misconfiguration I know it can fail either way but you know. I've never used any Mikrotik device but I'm thinking to use them for the switches/backbone of a new house on a budget. ![]()
